Morning All,

Bit of a weird-ish query. Im starting to think that my PC is compromised somehow.

Despite Avast, Trend Micro and Kaspersky not detecting anything I am still of the mind that the security on my computer has been breached.

One of the reasons that prompted me to think like this is as follows -

I remote onto my home PC from work using logmein.com. Always worked fine and have never had a problem. Yesterday I was remoted on during my lunch break and I got disconnected. I thought ok maybe it just lost its connection so I reconnected. 2 minutes later I get disconnected again. This happened 3-4 times.

When I got home my PC was turned off. When I turned it on again it booted to windows fine but emule loaded up at startup and was downloading something (no idea what).

I havent had emule on my machine since well.... ages. In fact I cant remember ever installing emule on my current machine at all. Anyways I turned off emule and restarted and now emule cant be found anywhere on my machine and it didnt load up on startup either:confused:.

Taskmanager does not show emule in the processes list. Is there any software that can detect hidden processes?

Am I just being extremely paranoid?

Hi Bledd,

Only I use the machine. Nobody else knows my logmein passwords or my machine login password.

Yesterday I re-ran a scan with Kaspersky online virus scanner and it up with -TROJ_MASZRE - or something like that.

Anyways, I cleared this as kaspersky threw it up as an infection. Re-scanned and this time nothing. Have done a cleanup using CCleaner and all seems to be chugging along fine now.

No more instances of emule running anywhere.

May I ask why you had Avast! and Kaspersky on at the same time, or is it just the Kaspersky security suite?
