Hi guys, a friend of mine is abit of tech and phone novice. He has had his iphone 4 for some time, and have never updated the ios. Hes looking to update the phone as hes missing out on imessage and stability improvements and so on.

Gonna try and help him out. Seeing as the software is so old, how would i go about taking off all his contacts and then getting them back on there ?

Is there any software out there than can take off his contacts ? I use an iPhone myself but itunes backs it up, but seeing as his ios is so old i would imagine that would struggle ?

Any advice at all would be great.

If it is on a version that doesn't backup to the cloud then he will need to back it up to his computer via iTunes. Then do the software update via iTunes and it will restore the phone for him.

For contacts, if you want, you can download MCBackup (My Contacts Backup) which will backup your contacts, email to wherever you want. You can then import the same way if he's that worried.

It's on the App store.

Thanks guys for the advice. He has quite a lot of contacts, and just worried as the iso was so old it may fail some were.

I shall do this later. Thanks again
