backing up iphone (linked to previous itunes)

Okay so I formated my pc and as a result forgot to copy over the itunes libary thing.

I really dont want to loose my contacts as I have added 10s of new ones since it was last snyced to my pc..

current itunes tells me it wont touch the iphone without erasing it so it can be synced to this one..

How can I get around this?

I just want my contacts saved. Dont care about my music or messages etc.

When I plugged in the iPhone after reinstalling mac os, I was able to sync contacts - bear in mind contacts sync both ways.. so if you make a change on the iphone, that change is reflected back.. It might be the way that contacts syncs with address book on mac... Can't really help with the pc issue - havent used itunes on a pc for yonks!

But then again, you're right, I was only able to do that after erasing my iphone, but as long as you have a backup copy of your music, just add them to the library again and then resync.

Hm. that actually makes no sense, but I'll leave it for folks to larf at!

EDIT// are your contacts synced to outlook? I remember reading somewhere about importing contacts from iphone... lemme check - but i'm sure one of the gurus will be here shortly..

oddly enough I just plugged it in and it was able to talk to my iphone just fine without clearing it.. strange!

Guess I will just remember to copy the itunes libary file next time.
