What backpacks does everyone have and has anyone got any recommendations for a decent one.

Currently the one I have is terrible, with no back support and its too small for my needs.

I am looking for something to hold my laptop (15" IBM T42), along as a normal day to day bag for uni stuff.

What would you recommend?

i have some random jack wolfskin one, its 22 litre- bought it originally for day hikes but it works great for uni- before i switched to a desktop. I think that if you get a skin type case for your laptop it doesnt really matter what bag you get as long as it fits- in my experience. Kyle

Got a North Face one from Blacks - called Modem. It's pretty good, but I think quite basic - served me well while skiing. It has a suspended laptop sleeve.

THIS one to be precise. :p

I've got a Pakuma K1.

It's got a proper padded laptop compartment and space for lots of other odds and sods.
The only downside is that the grab handle at the top is just a piece of nylon strapping with no padding.
I wrote to the company about it (sad I know) and they said that they would be fixing that when they release a new version of the K1 in the spring.

It just looks like a normal backpack and doesn't scream "there's a laptop in here" :p

Hi,

I have a "The North Face" Terra 35, and it's great, about £40, but it holds my Macbook, a few textbooks, and a few beers ;-) has back support too and about a billion pockets, when I feel of my motorbike, it wasn't affected at all, top notch IMO

Cheers

David

I got a nice Jeep backpack which I found in TK-Maxx one day, fit's my 12 inch laptop nicely and has good large compartments, it's also very comfortable cos of the air filled back supports. All the other Jeep bags I saw had this aswell. Targus bags are also comfy btw.

I use an Etnies one - I can't find it on their site though so presumably it's discontinued, but I'm sure the rest are as nice. Tons of room, tons of pockets, tons of entirely unnecessary but very snazzy straps everywhere :D

I'd recommend an Eastpak Provider.

I've got one, and it has two decent sized compartments, with padded area in the main one for laptops, a good sized organiser pocket on the front with small pockets, pen holders, etc. as well as a detachable keyring.

It's expandable, so can be thin when you need it, abd bleedin' well hooge when you need to carry something hefty, and the grab handle on the top is a proper plastic handle.
