Hi all,
OK, I've identified that the MB in my new build is at fault so it needs RMAing - only problem is I can't get the Tuniq tower backplate off the bottom of the board - to think I was worryed it wouldn't hold with only that sticky bit - its been on 48 hours and it feels likes it's bloody welded on - any tricks to how I might get it off without wrecking the board and thus invalidating any RMA - solvent perhaps would dissolve the glue but would that wreck the board?

As ever I'm stumped
any help much appreciated :)
thanks

When I RMAed my board I left the back plate on and didnt have any problems :)

Had the same problem, and used the hair dryer trick, worked without any problems, just be a bit patient until the glue softens up.

The problem with not removing the backplate, is that when you get your other motherboard, you don't get another backplate with it, and you need the backplate to fit the 3rd party heatsink/fan...also these backplate are quite hard to get individually...:)

Sorry to be ignorant, but how / why does a cooler have a backplate attached to the mobo??

I'm planning on building a PC soon (first time) and it's details like this that are putting me off. Each week I find out something new which seems to complicate matters, ie memory which won't boot at certain volts, coolers which won't fit certain cases etc. It's enough to make me want to not bother.

The Tuniq tower needs a backplate, because instead of push pins, it screws through the motherboard holes and into a plate underneath. I much prefer it, as those pushpins are really carp.
