Hey guys,

I'm thinking about making a second build on a fairly tight budget as a backup build/overclocking/testing out new MS operating system, like Windows 7 using Intel.

I've had a look at http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-161-OK&groupid=701&catid=339&subcat=1333 this bundle to start off with, but I wanted some input from you guys. Are these parts any good?

I've had some nasty experiences with RAM incompatibility in the past so that's why I'm looking at bundles, but can anyone recommend me some parts, either quad or dual core setups not exceeding 200 quid? Even setups you guys may have :)

Cheers

Much cheaper (ie free) to dual boot if you just want to test out win 7. Or buy a second hard drive? Not sure why you'd want to spend on a second PC for no real reason? Wouldn't it be worth upgrading your current one with the cash? (or spending it on beer and women) ;)

Beer and women is a tempting alternative, but I'm not sure what my gf would say ;)
Well I would want a second PC also for backup and to get more experience of rig building, as one does, not to mention downloading potentially virus infected files (no not those kind of files ;). Had nasty experiences with viruses as well somehow getting through my AVG protection (oh and it's the fully paid licence too!)
I did think about dual booting my current system, but I'm not sure if I'd trust a beta version of Windows 7 along with my current XP.

u got any spare parts lying around first?

Yes a graphics card, DVD drive, some RAM but most of my spare parts have gone into building my mum a PC. Demanding mum's aye!

the graphics card pci and what exacctly is it?

would you consider AMD

the nex atlon and pheom x2 look good, and the phemom has the potential to become a tri core or quad core

Yeah I really should be more precise shouldn't I?

Well the graphics card is PCI express and the RAM is DDR2 5300.

Yes I would consider AMD especially because it's a cheaper build, which reminds me, I have an old Athlon 3500+ lying around which I could swap for my mum's dual core 6000+. That solves that problem :) Now for the mobo. Any good ideas?
