Ghost is perhaps the only good thing Norton do lol :D

And even then it's not that good. I'd personally use Acronis True Image after the nightmare I had with Ghost - backup didn't work. It doesn't work on some SATA controllers and for RAID, forget it!

ghost has not worked, the drive boots but gets to the winblows log in screen and locks. i got the same thing when i used it a few month back... will try Acronis, is it free? can i buy online and download ?

Hi

i was recommended a proggy a while back as im on win x64 & not many backups were working ... i cant remember the web link but search for

Image for DOS ... or Image for Windows ( neither free but i think a limited trail )

been good so far without any hassles & supports backing up to usb harddrives , dvd , cd all without the need to add drivers

hope that is helpfull

No surprises there, I'm afraid :(. I suggest buying Acronis Home 9. It costs about £25 for the download version or 30 for the CD version. Several places sell the download version but don't trust them all. I'd look up the resellers on the Acronis webbie as some are slightly cheaper than acronis themselves. A certain online bookstore also sell it boxed for £26 delivered.

i never use anything when backing up because I want to run a fresh install of XP.....

I mean I have 200 - 300g drives.....

Are you guys able to backup like an entire 150 - 200g drive by taking an image of it.....formatting it and then reloading everything back on in an instant?

Or am I getting confused....

What i do is set a pratition of 12gb as my c drive and then use that for windows install, - install games and cad programs to a seperate partition. Keep all docs on seperate partition. That way if windows messes up i just reload the image (spread over 2dvd discs) and all sorted and havent lost game saved files and any docs
