Hi,

Whats everyones preffered method of backup software, im using Windows server 2003 at home and was wondering if people prefer to use third party software to backup the data on their machines or do they use the included windows backup software?

Thanks in advance.

There is that Microsoft SyncToy 2.1, I am using that. The only thing wrong with it I can see, is that it wont copy files that are currently in use, and you cannot schedule a task, unless you use task scheduler and use the command line version.

Tbh on Server 2003 you might as well just use ntbackup which will handle open files with VSS, system state (Active Directory included) and any Exchange you may be running.

It's not the easiest product to work with when pushing backups to tape but it's very simple when doing file backups :)

Im not running any enterprise server features as im using it in a home environment, I just want to use backup software that is effective and lets you backup locally, remotely and over ftp.
