Hi everyone,

Can anyone suggest a backup solution to use that will encrypt the back up output file as it goes? (i'd like a good encryption algorithm too not something that can be cracked, AES 256bit would be perfect :) )

So far I have scheduled Winzip to backup and encrypt automatically but I wanted to know if theres a better option out there?

Thanks in advance

Truecrypt.

On the fly encryption supporting a variety of algorithms like, blowfish, twofish, des, aes, serpant. Even capable of using 3 algorithms at once to encrypt the file. Creates an encrypted partition which you can put files into and it will encrypt them automatically, can create an extra encrypted parition inside the original to protect the files in case you are forced to reveal the password to the encrypted volume. The program encrypts free space in both the inner and outer partitions so the size of the files (if there even are any) cannot be determined. The partitions can even be created on a portable storage device like a dvd or usb flash memory.

Oh and it's completely free and open source.

If by backup you mean archive with winrar then just tell it to create the acrhive in the encrypted partition.

Another vote for truecrypt - incredibly easy to set up (there's even a foolproof walkthrough tutorial on the website) yet also incredibly powerful.
