hi there i currently have 2 WD Velociraptors 300gbX2 in Raid 0.

ime looking to backup some stuff and wipe computer and do a clean install.
not sure or which drives to get, external, internal. as they are currently in Raid 0 if i were to plug in any other hard drive what wou;d happen, would i be able to transfer files immediately or is there and setting up, id prefer an esast drive as i have the external connections on my Rampage 2 extreme, have 2 esata and firewire aswell as numerous usb's

thanks

thats cool, so ime guessing that even with my raid 0 setup i just plug it in, turn on computer it reads the new drive and i can start copying and pasting or whatever like any other drive?

I personally would get a 1/1.5/2tb green, shove it in your pc, plug it in and copy over your files.

No faffing about with caddies, no extra money spent. More importantly, a fast and reliable internal connection instead of usb/firewire which is dog slow.

Once you've got your new OS going you can use it for backup and/or a dumping ground. Or make it external.

I use a 4tb mybook studio II to backup my windows home server to. It has the choice of usb/fw400/fw800 and esata which blows the other options out of the water. So if you do get a caddy, make sure it has esata, unless you enjoy waiting.

Agree with last post...get yourself a "green" Samsung or WD HDD (I like the Samsung EcoGreens) and use it as an internal storage, if you ever wanted to make it external, you could put it in This
