With ketchup you have to have a really good one. Cheap sugary supermarket ketchup totally spoils it. A few of my recommended brands are Sauce Shop, Stokes and my personal favourite, Rubies in the rubble. None are as good as brown sauce on bacon sarnies though
 
depends on the bacon. if its proper good bacon touch of butter maybe not even sauce. if its cheap bacon in plastic bit of butter and red sauce.
 
Best bacon sarnies are made by buttering and then toasting the bread. Then butter again, add sauce of choice and copious amounts of well cooked streaky smoked bacon.
 
I voted for butter and brown sauce as that's how I prefer bacon sandwiches on their own but I'd much rather have it with a runny yolk egg - fried or poached.
 
For a brief moment in time I became a bacon butty diviner. For two consecutive days on the very large site where I work I happened to visit one department just as bacon butties where either being handed out by reps coming to sell their wares, or otherwise just happened to arrive just after someone had done a morning breakfast butty run, and as a result got a free bacon butty. Of course I naturally extrapolated these two days as I had acquired the permanent skill detect bacon butties, a form of butty pre-cog if you will, which would last forevermore and supply me with unlimited bacon butties.. Sadly, this immediately stopped after the second day and haven't had one since. :(

If I am making them myself it would be butter no sauce.

If you put an egg in it then it is no longer a bacon butty. It's a bacon and egg butty, which can have it's own thread.
 
Butter for sure then tomato or brown depending on mood. I'll vote for brown as thats what I had today.

Used to have with butter/marg and brown sauce but nowadays just butter/marg with goid quality bacon and no sauce so I can taste the naked bacony goodness.
