I have a WDblack 1TB and after running HD Tune full error scan it has 11 bad blocks (0.4%) 4 blocks in a row are bad, 3x2 and a single

I noticed some photos were corrupt but have copied them back onto the WD black from a WD green where they were luckily backed up.

Should I bin the drive and get another or is 0.4% not worth bothering about really? Its used for Steam games, music and camera pictures (~650gb used)

backup asap.

you don't have to bin it, but be prepared it can go any day.

just store some random junk there you don't mind losing.

if it gets really slow or will start giving trouble - like random disconnects or will become invisible = time for the bin.

actually if it's under warranty, you can send it in for RMA.

My old WD blue scanned an showed a few bad blocks a couple of years ago. Its still going now although I have made sure I have backups of important data on it as it could go at any time. Its probably gonna be retired soon as its getting pretty slow. The single platter 1tb WD blue drives are a good replacement if you do change it. Thats what I'm gonna go for, apparently they aren't much slower than the black drives and a lot quieter.

Replacement arrived. Currently copying all data to the new drive then will send back.

WD advanced replacement service is awesome. The drive is from March 09!

Do WD sell any SSD drives? My OS is a Crucial M4 but would prefer a WD just because there service is fantastic

I sent a 4 year old disk back the other week (<3 5 year warranty) and must also agree that their rma service is quite good!

I think they sold the expensive slc ssds a few years ago but I can't say I have seen much from them on fully solid state side of things for a while.

You need more hard drives.

ALWAYS have a 1:1 backup of data that you need, at least one 'backup'
