Hi there,

I've recently started playing the multiplayer and it's amazing except for the guns.

I honestly have no idea how the classes work. COD is so much easier to work out and understand. Where are the scopes for rifles, where does it show me how many points I need to unlock such and such.

I'm using the recon class and the first sniper rifle claims to have full power yet when I shoot them in the chest they just run away, you need a perfect headshot to take them out... quite unrealistic for a sniper rifle.

Same with the engineer class, I'm shooting them for half an hour and nothing happens, they shoot me for a split second with there machine guns and bam I'm down.

So what weapons should I be using and what should I be aiming to work towards for unlocking etc.

I've not long been promoted to level 2. Is there scopes? Can I customise guns.

Basically if anyone has any tips or intructions... I want to hear them.

Cheers.

My only tip, stop playing as a sniper and go as assault.

Yup go as assault. You'll rackup the points and be in amongst things getting a good idea of what each class does.

You can unlock 4x (ACOG for you COD boys) and red dots but not for a while as when you do unlock them they unlock for every weapon in that class.

Also when you get to level 16 in think it is?? you unlock Magnum Ammo which is a big help.

Start off by playing assault. Use the Aek and then XM8 when you unlock it. Use ironsights on all the weapons- it may take some getting used to but it is worth it.

You have to tap fire (3 bullet bursts), aim high up and well or you will not kill a thing. People are good at this game now, the skill of the playerbase is much higher than in Black Ops or MW2, so expect to struggle until you learn to aim properly (CoD won't have taught you that). Also play conquest, it's the bread and butter game mode. Remember to go for the flags :).

Oasis, Arica Harbour, Laguna Presa and Laguna Alta are the more infantry based conquest maps, on the rest there is a heavy emphasis on vehicles.

Nice tip

Recon.

There are two ways to play recon. Sit at the back and snipe or get into the action with shot guns and recon sensors. Personally I prefer the shot gun approach as it offers your squad more support and enemy visibility.

Throw out your sensor balls on a regular basis, spot enemies and shoot them in the face :) If you don't have shot guns, the m24 makes a deadly weapon - learn to quick scope or no scope your enemies. If you hit them with the m24 and they don't go down, get into the habit of switching to your side arm for a few quick shots. Chances are, the first hit took 80% of their health a few follow up shots will finish the job. c4 makes short work of tanks/apcs and buildings once you learn where to place them.

My best tip though if you're starting out is go with the medic. The LMGs are powerful and accurate. Get your medic kits on the ground to support your squad and revive only when the firefight is over and not in the middle of one! Pick up fallen comrads (or enemies) kits to get better weapons and generally support your squad for early points to rank up and get the unlocks. Don't rush in with the medic, thats what recons and assaults are for. Engies should deal with the tanks/apc/helos so leave them to it. Lay down support fire from cover and revive when necessary.

The other top tip, is get into mumble with some players from here and join some games. Much more fun when you're playing with regulars who can give you tips during the game. My mumble server is available to all here:-

There are quite a few regulars on there for you to join.

Give me a better tip for a new player to ramp up their stats?

Recon is the worst class for moving up levels. Assault class has some fantastic low-level weapons. The AEK & XM8 are some of the best guns in the game. Playing as assault also means you are more likely to get involved, rather than sniping and hanging back. As us regular players know, points are awarded for team play and positive play. Recon class, unless you are an experienced player, does the opposite.

My tip: Drop BC2 multiplayer and pick-up the Vietnam expansion. Gameplay is much better and overall is a better experience in my eyes. Guns are more balanced, and for some reason, the reg seems a heck of a lot better too.

That and the music is awesome!

Play the class.

Youre recon - hide behind a boulder and take potshots at the enemy.

Your assault - go into the action and keep spamming your grenade launcher on garrisoned enemies.

Youre engineer - stay close to friendly vehicles and provide assistance with your repair tool.

Youre medic - stay close to friendly troops, provide over shoulder suppressing fire and keep your squaddies healed.

Medic is fun.
I found out yesterday you can kill an enemy and revive an ally with the same single defrib blast if they are next to each other.
It's a net loss of 0 lives :)

My tips.

1. Put whatever cover possible between you and the enemy.
2. If you see an enemy press Q before firing, you can follow the orange triangle should they move behind a bush for example, and your team get alerted to their presence.
3. Burst fire your shots, your accuracy will improve massively.
4. Listen and look what's happening around you, the enemy will often shout out, so you can deduce their location.
5. Stop playing sniper. I recommend medic class when starting out, you have plenty ammo to work on your accuracy, and you can help your team with medpacks earning you lots of points.

ok thick question here:

I'm onlu upto level 1:o. I unlocked a new assault rifle but can't see anywhere to equip it. Do i need to level up to be able to create a class?

Click on the weapon and it'll expand a menu with other options.

Medic or Assault are good to start with. Medic is probably better to increase your stats quicker, especially once you unlock the defibrillators.

And following the below tips will be a good idea too.

I've been playing BFBC2 for a few weeks now. I suck. I suck badly. However some of the tips in this thread should be useful.

The game is awesome though. Roll on Battlefield 3.

Would definitely start out as a Medic first time out. Find the popular choke points on maps and throw out a medipack, the points will come rolling in and you don't even have to shoot anything. The PKM is an alright starter weapon too and you get loads of bullets so it's one less thing to worry about when you're learning.

Unfortunately due to the length of time BC2 has been out starting now is a bit of a pain. Not only does everyone around you have pretty crucial upgrades like Magnum ammo, but they will know the maps better, the general game dynamics better, etc.

Start out as a medic, as soon as the option to extend the heal range of your packs comes up equip it, same for speed heal, get your defibs and get reviving. You can be top of the server without even having to fire a single shot.

I would also reccommend playing Rush as a medic to start out with as the nature of the game creates chokepoints for you to exploit. Conquest is much more fluid, which makes it a far better game on the whole, but harder for begginners to rake in the points on lots of the maps. You'll probably find yourself just running around a lot until you get shot by someone.

Your k/d will likely take a hammering but just remember it's not COD. It's a points game, not a k/d game. Play for your team and get the objectives where you can :)

err my recon kit is m24 and m9....

First recon gun is best.

Go as medic.

or more importantly go as whatever class you like and pick up a medic kit.

points are to your starting kit, so take engi pick up medic kit get crap loads of points level your engi kit a level + per round.

Recon is the worst class for moving up levels.
Not to sound arrogant, but that's the viewpoint held by people who cant aim.
I levelled to 25 as a recon before i decided to level the other classes, then switched back to Recon.
I find the top Recon weapon, cant remember its name, to be deadly in the right hands.

The problem people have is that recon weapons and the class requires a specific way of thinking to play with, most people dont think that way.
Simple things like looking for good sniping spots that arnt just the high ground. Moving position after every shot or two so no-one can find you.

Done right, a recon player is deadly, hard to kill, and a major asset to the team he's on.

Yeah but 9 times out of 10 you're an unhelpful bunch of arses who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn door :p
Thats because everyone likes the idea of a recon, being a lone wolf killing machine, but cant actually play for nout! lol.

Myself, i often get +250 marksmen points from across the map due to aim, judgement and patience.:)
