ok, well, i've built a few systems before and never had any problems :D untill now..... :(

Using:

Abit IN9 32X MAX
E6600 Conroe
320Gb S-ata Seagate 7200.10
BFG 8800GTX
Cellshock PC8000C4

im getting error messages on boot up.

"CMOS checksum error - Defaults loaded
CMOS battery failed
Override enabled - Defaults loaded
Warning! Now system is in safe mode"

is what im getting at the bottom of the post screen
if i use F1 to proceed the systems gets stuck on

"Verifying DMI Pool Data............"

and i cant get past it :(
i've tried different hard disk (another seagate 7200.10 320Gb
but dont have a different PCIe graphics to try

i've replaced the CMOS battery (yes the correct on in the corrrect way around)

And yes, the jumper on the board and the CCMOS switch on the back are in the Normal mode (ie not Clear CMOS)

Anyone got any ideas, or is it RMA time :(

Thanks, Andy

I see you've got some Cellshock ram there, dunno but it could be that the SPD has tried to clock it high as default and the boards "stock" voltage is only 1.8v, whereas the cellshock looks for 2.1-2.2v. I take it you've checked that the battery is seated correctly? do you have any spare DDR2 ?

Curious about this myself, looking at the getting the same setup apart from using RAID 0 so will keep an eye on this with keen interest

My board should be here tomorrow, and I'm using the same CPU and RAM so I'll be able to tell you if its the default RAM voltage that's the problem.

Nelly was supposed to be putting up a review of the board today and iirc he also has the same RAM and CPU. Hopefully he can give us some clues.

Have same ram too, and my board should also be arriving. Also have some borrowed POS memory in case this mobo won't boot with the good stuff :)

Ok, well i've got windows installed.... but....

Every time i want to start or Restart the computer i have to clear the CMOS memory, either using the Button on the board, or by removing the battery
the CCMOS switch on the io panel wont do the job :(

It shows A0 code -----
best i can find for this is off abit website:

A0~AF Boot clock initial programs 00->AF00 stop at A0->AF Chipset or BIOS damage 1. Clear CMOS2. Send to RMA at last.

So does this look like i gotta RMA it ? :s :(

Have you changed any of the bios settings? e.g. load optimized defults?

Check to see if the memory voltages are correct. They can range from 1.8v to 2.4v.

Aye he's got the same sticks as mine, if they dont have the correct SPD timings you may need to set them manually I guess. Memory Voltage should be 2.2v as per the spec of the ram.

i can get into the bios and change the settings, and save them..... but when it re-starts it wont post, i have to use CCMOS1 jumper on the board or remove the battery to get it to post, this then gives all the error codes, and re-sets to default
so in all, im stumped... think its RMA time :(

You got any friends close by, who have a DDR 2 setup? if you can, try the ram in there PC & test it. I know its obvious but still it's either the Ram or the Motherboard - IF not! then RMA both the Ram & the Motherboard, OcUK will test both & send you back whichever needs replacing at a guess - give them a call.

more likely user error
check all your setting's in bios
your ram would cause it not to boot if its set wrong
