I have had 3 hard drives fail on me in the last 6 months or so, a Maxtor 250gb then a Western digital 250gb and a Samsung 500gb which replaced the Western digital(they all failed at different times). I didn't loose much data as most of it was backed up luckerly :). Do you think that this is just bad luck or another cause e.g. motherboard?

Did they all go in a similar fashion? Also can't you RMA them?

EDIT: presumed you had them 6 months  But if one/two was a replacement for a failed drive it should still be under warrenty?

I did manage to RMA all of them. :) And they all kind of went in a similar fashion i.e. data becomming corrupted.

None of the drives get hot as there is a 120mm fan in front of them and they have temps that are at the bottom end of the average temperature for that particular drive according to speedfan.

Dont worry, i just bought a 3ware 9650se-12ml raid controller. The thought of losing my university data (which is in two locations but only on single disks) was too much the bear (as is my cockyness if u have just lost 3 hard drives in 6 months i should imagine)
