Bad news for T-Mobile Web n Walk users

EDIT they reckon the phone has been set to dial via csd (wap) rather than gprs 3g, first time in over 12 months..

i also asked about the msn thing and they said the original contract for web n walk allowed basic im use and nothing else and that my contract would be un touched. I asked for this to be confirmed so the lady went and asked her "manager" who also confirmed it and he stated that the new im rules only came in to effect when the 3 tier web n walk packages were introduced

Just found this...i'm a bit confused about the basic and pro plans?

I'm thinking about moving to T-Mobile from O2 purely for the unlimited internet etc thingy but this thread has confused me a bit?

Sorry, but if that is the case why was my phone set up with MSN all ready to go and fully able to use when I signed up with the £7.50 package? I was told, and I specifically looked at the T&C's that MSN was okay to use at the time.. if they are mis-selling and changing the rules now we should be informed clearly and plainly and offered a straight chance to opt out of our contracts - WnW was the reason I switched to T-Mobile, wil they honour dropping out of contracts if they change the package(s) we signed up to? Not that I really use MSN but it's there if I need to keep in contact with work of random relatives when I'm out and about

I don’t use T-Mobile but I’m sure the T&Cs of the cheap WnW have always disallowed things like IM and VoIP.

Have to be honest but I have to agree with what other members said - there were quite a few threads about this when the Vario 2 was out about the 2 original WnW packages (WnW normal - £7.50; WnW Pro - £10) and exactly what data usage was allowed.

Eventually we found out that normal WnW allowed IM use, while not being capable of usage as a modem; while WnW Pro didnt allow IM use, but could allow modem usage. I actually distinctly remember this as I was originally going to get WnW Pro, until I found this distinction, where IM usage would be more useful to me than laptop usage...

If its a change to T&Cs then there is a possibility to argue this, but if its part of say a fair use 'policy' then probably not Im afraid. Considering you have to opt into WnW, I doubt youll be released from your main phone contract, but losing such a major feature does devalue the point of WnW...

If I found out they start blocking IM on my contract, Ill be on the phone to Tmobile to complain...

What about using MSN over mobile.live.com? Surely that counts as regular web traffic?

Thats how i remember it and was told specifically it was ok and the small print in the t+c's said this, yet t mobile staff on here are saying otherwise.....If anyone could find the threads from about 1.5 years ago i posted them on here.

Marc i think we got our phones around the same didnt we?

Had a look into this today (wish I could get my router to work and then I could have the work & home PC going at the same time) anyway....I need to retract my original statement somewhat

the original W&W has a fair use policy that allows MSN use, future versions have a fair use policy that has MSN on the barred list.
So, those that went for the original W&W will be OK (if only I can remember the start/end dates!! gah!!)

Just goes to show what some of the staff are told and how people are brainwashed...........No offence meant as i sure as hell couldnt remember exactly as it was so long ago....

Im sure how ever they will end up changing there t+cs and giving people the chance to end early although i only have 3 months left anyway........maybe they will do it at upgrade time or something?

Very true....but im involved in the design of these things!!....though in my defence a) it was a long time ago and b) I work on different propositions every 2 weeks....currently doing 'stuff' for June/July (and onwards) launches - still forgot to get the dates though...brain like a sieve at the minute

I don't think you can cancel on this basis. Web n Walk is an additional service on top of the standard line rental charge. If you are not happy with the new Terms and Coniditions, you are perfectly entitled to stop paying for and using Web n Walk. I doubt it entitles you to cancel your entire contract.

some contracts, like mine were bought as a whole so you can't cancel the w&w separate from the rest of the contract. got the phone cheaper doing it that way.

You sure the final figure listed wasnt just the total amount of both packages?

Steeps is right.

If you go here, you can see that there are WnW pay monthly contracts along with the just the standard Flext monthly ones.

The WnW pay monthly contracts are basically Flext contracts with WnW already included, so you can't cancel the WnW. Unlike the standard Flext contracts where you can add WnW at any time and also cancel at any time.

Out of all the people here I know exactly what you are talking about. Ive just completed the latest price change and Ive been engaged on that since February and now nearly a month ago Ive already seen details on the Q3 price change (and several arguements). I never know the prices of stuff I do as Im dealing with hundreds...

Thats very dependent on interpretation, just because its marketed like that doesnt mean its built like that (and therefore billed like that). Considering the '+' to me and to a layman (the customer) looks like an 'additional package' its enough for me to question it...

Ultimately your contract should confirm your position...
