Hey guys, I have 2 samsung HDD's one F3 500Gb and one F1 250. The F3 seems to have either developed a physical fault that i can't fix with CHKDSK or I have a virus... I think any way.
Windows constantly is developing corrupt files and so on and is reporting that I have a critical hard drive error. So I run CHKDSK and it thusly goes about its business. Soon after i have run full diagnostic and repair it reports an error again! So i ran the disk doctor on tune up and it found no errors, but windows still reports an error???? Then i decided it might be a virus so I ran avast. It came up with no threats found, so I had a look at the report and it flagged up all the results as 'Corrupt or unreadable file error (1392)'.
Has any1 had a similar experience? Does any1 have a clue whats going on? I know i don't.
Thanks, Steve.

Maybe try scanning using Samsung's ES-Tool.

Also from Safe Mode, scan for malware using a program like Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

I have the 250GB running as my back up and an isolated 160GB as disaster recovery. I have already run tune up diagnostics on the disk and it didn't find anyhing. Is there a specific diagnostics tool you had in mind? I have also re-installed OS. No joy. :( I will DL the ES tool and have a gander with that. I have also scanned with avast from safe. But not malwarebytes. Thanks for the info. Thanku both for the input.

Purchased this from an online electronics store (unfortunately not OCUK) and after a 2min phone conversation they agreed to have it picked up and replaced within 3 days. I am super impressed with the service. It usually takes a lot more than that to squeeze a replacement out of a company. :D
