After seeing it in so many 'Must See' lists, i decided to give this a watch on BBC2 last night.

To put it bluntly..it was garbage! The plot was just so basic, ie. Man runs away with young love and shoots a few people. It was just so deadly dull. If that was released today, it'd be panned by the critics.

Also, i recognised the music in Badlands as also being in True Romance (i think). Its a kind of xylophone or tin drum kind of sound to it. Did anyone else notice that?

I loved this film. while the plot is basic and not wholly original the desolate asmosphere created and the cinematography was perfect. the score and spacek's neutral attitude in her voice-over makes for a very haunting film.

the true romance track is hans zimmer's interpretation of 'Musica Poetica' by the composer Carl Orff, the track from Badlands.

I'm guessing that the film may have been original at the time (1973 i think). It's probably a classic of its genre because film makers have been influenced by it since.

So, the music IS also in True Romance. Thought so. Cheers for that. :)
