Badly timed accidents

Friend of mine broke his upper and lower arm in a motorcross race, got his cast off then stepped off a high curb breaking his tib and fib. He then decided it was time for a nice holiday and got attacked by a shark while swimming.
Perhaps if he wasn’t swimming with a broken arm and leg he’d have been ok with the shark?

Cousin's friend came from hospital after shoulder replacement surgery. Gets home and trips on the doorstep breaking her wrist on the other arm.

Can go a little bit better.
Lady friend had a full knee replacement, comes out and 2 days later falls over and breaks her knee she had the operation on.
having had one done I can't imagine the pain she was in.

Yeah, one minute they were just making a cup of tea and the next they have a ping pong ball in the bumhole

A few years ago I helped a colleague with an FOI request.
When it came back, during the previous 12 months we had 57 admittances into A&E where items had to be removed.
There was even a detailed list.

You can get a new shoulder on the NHS now?

Shoulder replacement removes damaged areas of bone and replaces them with parts made of metal and plastic (implants). This surgery is called shoulder arthroplasty (ARTH-row-plas-tee). The shoulder is a ball-and-socket joint. The round head (ball) of the upper arm bone fits into a shallow socket in the shoulder.

I have a full knee replacement.

Doesn't shoulder replacement leave you with limited mobility, which is less likely with other joints that are more straightforward to replicate?

No, not particularly afaik. I mean, I expect it can do if the replacement doesn't go so well, but it's not a given. Of all the replacements my step-dad has had, some went better than others.

Yes? My step-dad has had 2 knees, 2 hips and 1 shoulder replaced over the years on the NHS.

Tell my right metal knee that, I'm back under the GP with it.
I also deal with a lot of Clinical Negligence claims where the replacements in knees & hips have gone wrong.
Funnily enough in 13 years I've never had a shoulder replacement.

I'm not suggesting that any of them are easy operations. Someone I know was keen on getting a knee replacement until they were told exactly what it entailed. They then decided that their knee pain wasn't that bad after all.

Was it me back in 2014 when I should have had it done :)
By 2019 I was really disabled but two weeks before the operation I had a TIA.
April 2020 one week before the op it was cancelled because of Covid.
Oct 2020, Feb 2021 and Oct 2021 were all cancelled because my diabetes was out of control.
From around mid 2020 to my Operation in Feb 2022 I was now in a wheelchair.
If I had it back in 2014 I'd probably be walking properly now but that 8 years delay has buggered me up forever.

Shoulders are weird and complex things. Took a patient from Oncology to X-Ray the other day, for the mandatory follow on scan after having a line fitted for the chemo, who was having issues with her line due to a previous shoulder injury.

My mum did similar, unfortunately. She'd just recovered from having a broken shoulder. She came to our house for a bbq and managed to trip over her the back step and broke her other arm.
