The only advice I can give regarding rackets is to try before you buy if possible.
The most expensive rackets are only really suited to elite players. They are usually head light as this allows better control, while the technique of an advanced player still allows them to generate a lot of power.
I've tried so many rackets in the past, the most recent top quality ones being the entire nanospeed range by Yonex. TBH I found the Muscle Power series to be superior. I use both the MP99 and 100.
I used to have a Carlton Airblade 2000 which was and amazing racket. Strung at 30lbs with bg85 it was amazing to smash with.
I also use Ashaway Microspeed 85s for doubles, which have never let me down, which is why I have owned 6 of them.
All in all, they are very individual things. To me, having them strung at the correct tension with the correct string is the most important factor, unless the racket is excessively head heavy or light.
