Bahrain Grand Prix 2010, Sakhir - Race 1/19

He was actually looking for his watch. It fell in the cockpit you see. He was trying to weigh the McLaren down.

Ferrari and McLaren seem to be on the pace then. I would be surprised if either are showing their true hand yet.. especially McLaren if they are getting unwanted attention.

I'd add Mercedes to that list, seems like Nico is trying to make a point but in testing Schui has been 0.4-0.5s faster than Nico. So I think there is a lot more to unfold from the top teams yet!

Any pics of the new Mercedes diffuser everyone was talking about?

Renaults' Bob Bell - via PitPass said:
"It is fundamentally clear that the McLaren wing design is totally illegal, and they have driven a cart horse through the sprit of the rules and regulations," he said. "They have opened up another arms race and it's going to cost everybody a lot of money. The governing body needs to be a lot stronger with these things.
I hope the irony of the above quote is not lost on a man whose team threw the result of a race and were allowed to keep their win.

Well done to Mclaren :) and they say that Mclaren sent off the design to Charlie Whiting six months ago and he said it was ok.

It's almost Colin Chapman levels of genius and sneakiness there.

But while it's 100% within the written rules - I can see it getting protested as being against the spirit of the rules... :(

Watched FP1 from the warmth of my bed - was nice.

Webber is a nosey bugger isn't he, great pic of his head stuck in the mclaren cockpit for the start of the season shots: http://www.formula1.com/gallery/race/2010/824/general/friday.html

Webber certainly is a cheeky bugger though...

Vettel got involved too...

Seems like Renault are rapidly becoming the whining bitches of the grid.

They want to improve the reliability and cost efficiency of their engines - and will at the same time improve the power, purely by accident of course... ;)

Renault has less power - fine but the Renault uses less fuel - so let the other suppliers mod their engines into line with the Renault.

Anyway - the other suppliers haven't been allowed to modify the engines for a few years now - Renault were allowed at the end of 2008. Any improvement in power from the other guys has come from changing the oils or fuel mix or even the shape of the air intake to optimise the air going to each cylinder.

Anyone know any higher res versions or similar to this. Think it would be a great desktop

Are 5live using their mobile phones for this session? Sounds terrible - I'm sure it was much better this morning.

[edit]

A-ha! Thats much better - someone has turned the bandwidth up. :D

How are HRT allowed to run? It is expected that Chandhok will not appear on track today. Wow! Only 1 car ready for this weekend...

Yup. Gotta feel sorry for the engineers there though, they've been pretty much sleeping a couple of hours a night for the past 2-3 weeks according to some HRT head-honcho interviewed on la Sexta 10 minutes ago. I wish em all the best but jeez they've got their work cut out.
