Bailiff query...

A quick update - I popped 'round earlier. She had calmed down a lot which was good.

She has doctor's correspondance for arranging surgery and physio. She is going to get a defined letter stating reasons for nonpayment tomorrow.

We're off to the coonsil tomorrow afternoon. I'll update with how it goes. :)

Bonus: 'You and Laura are so good for me. I've got a lot of time left in me but I'll take care of you when I'm gone...'

I told her not to be daft.

*n
look at my post she should also argue she didnt understand because of her age etc.. plus she was depressed etc...
you want to get her the full 52 weeks so also use the above, remember go in for her dont let her go, you need to say she still can move well.

Court Bailiffs can only come around when they have a court order so she should have been given the oportunity to go to court and explain her circumstances; if that has not happened, then the so called bailiffs have no authority (need a court order) and should be told to 'go away'.

Try to get social services or CAB involved, they will do all the working out of benefits etc; also, as stated, try to set up a small standing order for payment (shows good will).

Good neighbours are what you are ..... good luck.

On a side note, it's probably worth checking that she does actually have it to pay and that they're charging her the right amount.

We got a letter from the council threatening court action and charging us for legal fees last month despite going down to the council office and sorting out this years council tax at the start of September. (We're students, so this meant filling it a bunch of forms to prove we didn't have to pay it). However, they were very good about it when we called up and told us right away it was a mistake and they'd change the files.

Scared me for a bit. :(

Why are bailiffs such turds?

and good luck to your friend.

They are no more "turds" than the police, parking attendants or other people who do similar jobs.
The job needs doing and people need to do the jobs.
The reason for describing such people in such a manner is because at the end of the day they are there to enforce things when people are in the wrong.

Baliffs wouldn't be "turds" if they were in a house collecting goods to satisfy a court case you'd just won for example.
