If you want it quick microwave and then finish it off in the oven to crisp the skin up.

If you have a bit more time shove it in the oven for an hour.

Job done.

Microwave for between 5 and 10 mins depending on size, there should be a give to it when you squeeze it, then chuck in the oven until it is as crispy as you like.

You could try wrapping it in tinfoil and then microwaving it for 10 mins followed by 10 mins in the oven.
However, I think you'll only try that once lol.

10 mins in each would be good. Don't forget to turn the oven on and warm it up early on.

Ok, i've done this....set the oven to 200C preheat, when its there, grab a potato, stap it a few times with a Fork, cover my hands in olive oil and hold the potato in my hands, place in the over for between one 1/4 and one 1/2 hours...

remove

Cut open

Add beans

Add cheese

Eat :)

At what point did you remove your hands from the oven?

30 minutes seems a very short time for a jacket potatoe in an oven, was the skin crispy?
Crispy skin tip * - rub salt into the skin prior to cooking.

I guess he meant "one and a half" rather than "one half", as you're right, there's no way it'd be cooked after 30 mins!

I think you're right, my error. Bet his hands hurt a lot by then.

Tinfoil and microwaves? :o

That was my thought

I personally wack it in the microwave whilst the oven is preheating; for 5-8mins depending on size. Get an oven dish, put the JP in there, poor lots of olive oil, salt, pepper, random herbs that are lying about, then leave it for at least 20mins in the oven. The result is superb.

Stab heavily with a fork all over - about a stab every inch or so.

Microwave for 10 mins, flipping upside down half way through.

Then coat with a tablespoon of oil, olive or sunflower the world is your oyster.

Sprinkle of salt on the 'tater if you like a really crisp skin.

Oven for 20 mins at 200 degrees

You will never have a hard potato this way and it will always taste good :) When ready cut a wedge out of it and drop in some flora light/butter/trex.

Two words- Combination Microwave

The best invention ever!

Stick potato on grill plate in microwave, press combi, press microwave, set for 20 mins.

End up wth a lovely potato with the same texture and cook a one thats been in an oven for an hour.

Failing that either a microwave for 10-20 mins depending on size or oven for an hour.

LOL. Like I said he'll only try that once :)

Anyone remember Clarkson the TV show? When he put the lightbulbs and all sorts of stuff in the microwave. Class! lol

Preheat oven to Max and then bung potato in microwave. Stab it with a knife first though or it might explode. After about 5 - 10 mins check the middle is a bit soft then stick it in oven for 10-15 mins depending on how crispy you like the skin :)
