Hi,

Am having problems with my 2gb pc4000 kit - basically whenever i use them windows will randomly reboot and the odd program will crash with errors. Running on my old 1gb kit all is fine. The problem is they dont fail memtest? So I am totally confused as to what it could be :(

thanks for any help

Have you try just using one stick at a time with windows?

Have you swap them around and try different slots?

I have found that memory can pass memtest, but would crash in windows, by placing then in diffrent order I could get them to work.

using IT or 2 T, If having problem go to 2T

Timings?
Volts?

Simon

I had this problem with my old Ballistix stuff would pass memtest ok but crash in windows, try taking one stick out, it used to be fine then, you will probaly need to RMA it. :(

Thanks for the suggestions guys

Will they be ok RMA'ing without any proof of failure from memtest etc?

The PC is quite old now, 2.4C P4 @ 3.0 (i.e. 250fsb 1:1 as the ram is rated for). Timings are 3-3-3-8 though I put them to 3-4-3-8 which I think is as slack as they will go! Running on 2.8v which is the max of the board, any less and the problem gets worse.

The sticks ran perfectly for about 3months then the problems just started occuring, which leads me to believe the ram is at fault (swapping it for older pc3200 stuff fixes it)

E-mails are not replied to, if you phone them you will get a RMA number very quickly, I just sent my sticks and they were replaced within a week.

Oh well, in my case I did not get a reply to 3 e-mails sent, when I called them the phone was answered straight away and I only had to say my machine failed to boot when one of my sticks was in my computer and got a RMA number within a few minutes.
