Anyone think he didn't deserve to win?

Suppose he did win the treble playing in a sexy football team, can't argue too much :p
 
He was outstanding last year and definitely the best player in the world, still is. Can't really see anybody being better than him over the next 5 years. He won it by a record margin and deservedly so. Watching him play football is pure perfection at times, he is phenomenal. Personally would have stuck Iniesta in at 2nd too, in the CL final he was head and shoulders above anybody

Cant argue with that, messi is sublime at times. Ronaldo is amazing in certain ways but messi does things that blow your mind.
 
Glad to see him finally win this award...he should have won it last yr and probably the yr before as the past few yrs hes been simply outstanding and one of my fave players although hes Argentinian...imagine if he was Brazilian:eek::p...

Anyhow well deserved for the lad \o/...and good to see quite a few Barca players made it in the top 10.

Despite that French "cheat" been one of the best players we have had play in England ;)
 
Of course he deserved it, he's a fantastic player, had a fantastic season, and playing for the best club side in World Football.

I'm more concerned about the 7 points Diego Forlan accumulated!

He was top scorer in a team that finished 20 points behind the leaders outscoring even Eto'o. How does he not deserve 7 points?
 
Messi is definately the best player around atm. What he has over Ronaldo is he defends and is a more honest player as doesnt dive every 2 secs
 
It was hilarious in El Classico when Ronaldo accused Iniesta of diving (having dived himself a few times that night in the first half) and Iniesta told him to shut up

Considering the award is based on the previous season I dont see how anyone can argue Ronaldo deserved it last year having won the Premiership & Champions League and be the top goal scorer in both competitions during the 07/08 season.

Messi deserved it for last season though, outstanding for Barca.

Shame next years will more than likely go to whoever wins the World Cup rather than someone who deserves it based on their club appearances.
