But you can't ignore what Ribery has helped his team do last season. Surely you can't give the award to someone that won nothing.

It would be an injustice if Ribery didn't get it with his 2013 credentials. No one will ever remember Ronaldo's 2013 but everyone will remember what Ribery achieved.

That's hardly relevant though, is it? You have no good reasons for Ribery to win it aside from the fact his teammates are better?

It's an individual achievement. Neither the Bundesliga or La Liga are particularly strong throughout.

Ribery is my personal favorite to win. That is my opinion. I think he has been the better player in 2013.

We will see who wins it tonight.

Cristiano Ronaldo endured a rare trophyless season, but that didn't stop the Portugal international from shining individually as he banged in the goals in all competitions, helping his country to the World Cup with a sensational hat-trick against Sweden.

Lionel Messi enjoyed yet another impressive season with Barcelona as his goals helped the Catalans to the Liga title and the Spanish Supercup. The Argentine might have missed the last few months of the year due to injury, but had a fine 2013 nonetheless.
