Hi Guys n Gals,

The Mrs and I are taking dance lessons/having our dance choreographed and have hit a snag with one of the sequences we have been taught. We need to practice it but cannot 100% remember the sequence. Could a ballroom buff or someone with experience in dancing give us a hand as our next lesson is not for a week and we really need to practise. Msn is smitho2 at passport.com.

Cheers

L

What nature is your snag?

I know I'm a swing dancer but if you have no other luck, there might be something I can vaguely help with if it's a standard shape/move...?

Well the dance move she is trying to teach us is in her words called "3 around 1" however i cannot find any info online or any guides. Its a kind of varation on social rhythm/foxtrot where you go into a standard hold, we both rock back and forth fast turning at around 2 steps ber beat. The resulting effect is the pair of us turning rather fast on the spot.

I have a vid on my phone of us doing it in the dance class and can upload it if it helps. We are really struggling to make the turn feel fluid, it just feels like we are shuffling around one another lol. When we do it alone we are spinning around with no effort. Its so frustrating!

That's beyond me, would be interested to see the vid anyway though, heh!

You sound like you know what you're doing, I assume you're both definitely on the same beat and you've both got your frames right with the proper points of body contact needed?

Swing is a much looser social dance but it's still all about the lead and follow - if your connection isn't sorted then the rest falls apart really..

I wish we did know what we were doing lol! The vid is a bit messy but add me to msn if you have it and i will upload it to you tommorow as i am off to bed. Cheers :)
