Balltefield 2 vs COD 4 - who plays which and why ?

I prefer BF2, for me it's probably the best game for stories you can tell other people. Like the time a friend jumped off some building and was asking in Vent which button opened the parachute, and then I see him in the sky-diving animation smacking right into the ground :D Or flying around that Tampa map in a Heli capping points and rescuing people.
 
I play BF2142 and COD4 and find both extreme fun

I haven't played BF2 for years and see no need to go back to it
 
I used to play the hell out of BF2, it is definitely one of the best value for money games in existence. It's showing its age now though, graphically I think it is fine, but the gunplay is just dated. COD4 does gunfights better, BF2 feels like clunky cyborg combat.
 
I actually prefer BF2 due to the size of the maps although both games have problems I actually play more COD4. Why? Because the login system for BF2 has always been absolutely ****!! Sometimes it can take a good 5 or 6 tries just to login, bearing in mind it can take a good minute for one try it gets rather boring.

If they would remove jets from BF2, or at least make them easier to take down with missiles I would probably put up with the login problem. Even though I hate the fact that taking cover in COD4 means eff all which means stupidly random deaths it is still my most played.

Although imho they both sit in the shadow of COD1 & United offensive.
 
Bf2 for me, i used to play all the BF series on pc. I stopped for a while when i got into consoles, but im back onto the pc again, and i reinstalled BF2, its been great fun playing again. There is so much to do in game!
 
After a year long absence, I am back on the BF2 servers. I usually play till I hit the next grade then stop. Need 1.2k to hit 20k. THing is unlike a lot of ppl, I very much enjoy normal maps with vehicles, earning around 50 pts a round; I don't like pistol/knife/infantry servers - too samey. Vehicles add the extra dimension. Speaking of which, I fancy a game right now.

CoD4, but only on servers for 20 people MAX, preferably 4vs4...
Not a nade spamfest like bf2, no ******* snipers that are hard to kill, you see their dot on the map and sprint to them & stick a knife up their arse :D. Shooting through walls, proper sized maps for the type of map, eg. in battlefield 2 the maps are made for 150 players or more, not just 64, they're way to empty... Battlefield 2 is nice but give me CoD4 any day, nice small intense maps & battles.

Why haven't you played on private ranked servers then when you saw ea ****** you with the ranks, I play on a server where you get ALL weapon unlocks when you reach level 2.

Under vista x64 for me and pretty good atm, just make sure you set it to have "adminstrator provileges".
But yeah bf2 ***, the vehicles provide a lot of the market for it as there is no other game that comes to mind with such a range of vehicles to be used.

Amazingly I find both boring and very much been there and done that now give me battlefield 3 and cod with planes and vehicles.
 
Cod 4 its smaller maps mean its easier to remember maps and quick to get around. Also i like the gfx and weapons. Also it has less players generally which i like usually max of 8vs8 or 5vs5 i.e small squads as i hate playing with loads of ppl cos its overcrowded then. Only prob is choppers cos i hate vehicals in these games i prefer infantry only. Hence why i hate bf2 cos of the planes, choppers, etc.
