Hi guys am near the finishing line rebuilding my bandit. Am looking for restrictors for my 600 1998. I am not will to pay the stupid price the garages charge so am looking for a 2nd hand set and then Im going to get the bike dyno'd to prove its 33bhp. Anyone know were I could get a set? 4 washers are so expensive :D

I am no expert on restrictors. But isnt the rule that you must get it fitted by a certified garage and to have a certificate signed by that garage?

Nope. No were in law states you need to have the certificate. (Have checked this already)

Ah ok,

There is an Auction going at the moment for a 33bhp kit for a k1, no idea how different the engines are from the 98 to the 01. However it does consist of 4 carb washers and a throttle restrictor. I never knew that carb bikes needed a throttle restrictor though, my 03 fazer didnt. However my 07 fuel injected fz6 needed a throttle restrictor, and it ruined the bike.

Edit: Just read its for models Before the K1, so im guessing thats your one.

There are plenty of places you can ask for the dimensions of the washers, then just get them made up or find somewhere that stocks some in that size.

You also don't need a dyno printout unless you pick a fussy insurer who requests paper proof it is restricted, but even then some of them demand an F1 International certificate (the expensive ones :p)

Yep, it's not just about the law, you need to be very careful with the insurance small print. Insurers can and do give people a lot of grief on this.

The insurance co. normally wants a copy of the certificate. A dyno run probably won't be sufficient but check with them before you go down that route as most will say it could be anything run on the dyno, they have no proof the correct restriction was ever fitted to your bike, just whatever you took to the dyno or even whatever the dyno tech had sitting about in the saved readouts and printed out for you.
