If i slap a PCI-X U320 card into a PCI slot would i be right in thinking it would become effectively U160?

If this is the case, if i put a PCI-X U160 card in a PCI slot then will it half again still to 80MB/s....this will be annoying as the card i like the look of is U160 PCI-X. I'll be starting with the one drive but raiding two later on, thus 80MB/s is not enough to hold the gushing torrent of data.

Normal mobos have 33mhz PCI slots so your limited to 133MB ATA or even SATA is limited to 133MB if a pci card or onboard like silicon 3112/3114.

You need a 66mhz PCI slot like some server mobos have to get by the 133MB bottleneck, or buy a NF4 mobo with the onchip nvidia controler on the new PCI-E bus.

i know that, but 133MB/s is considerably more than 80. Whaat i'm worried about is the adapter halving it's output bandwidth in 32bit mode.

I could get PCI-X but that means an opty board and i want an X2 chip.
