Hi guys,

my computer stopped working. No beep and no video output or anything. The L.E.Ds on the front light up though and the fans spin, the graphics card lights up and stuff. I know it's not the proccesor or RAM. Does anyone have any idea on what I can do or what the problem is?

Thanks.

Firstly, congrats on making me laugh with your thread title - not at your misfortune, though.:D

Reset the BIOS. If that does nothing, I would take the motherboard out the case, reseat everything and make sure all the connectors (eg: AGP slot, AGP connector on graphic card) are clean and free of fingerprints, etc.

Only plug in what the system needs to fire up: motherboard, psu, gfx, keyboard, ram, cpu.

Then just whittle it down to the fault component.

I can hear the hard drive spinning but I'm going to chuck it in another computer and see if it works.

The proccessor and RAM are fine as I tried them in another computer.

I'll try without the graphics card, CD drive etc and see if that helps. Then try a different PSU. Hopefully that will work.

Oh the joys of replacing PSUs eh?

If not then the motherboard is fried.

And basmic, might as well laugh, it's all you can do in a situation such as this.

Except hit it with a hammer...hmm...

Thanks for the help, I'll keep ya posted.
