Hi

At the moment i have 2 current accounts with 2 different banks.
My wages go into one current account that doesnt have a debit card. Instead all ive got is a crappy ATM cash card.

My other account is a Solo account and every so often i transfer money (through online banking) from my ATM cash card account to my Solo account so i have money to spend as i please.

However, i need to buy some tyres online tomorrow and my Solo account is empty. My ATM cash card account has enough money in it so i was wondering if i could go into town, withdraw the amount of money i need to buy tyres from ATM account and then pay the cash into my Solo card account.

As soon as i do this is the money available in my Solo account so i can go home immediately and order a set of tyres ?
If not, how long will it take for the cash to clear?

It should be yes, sometimes even cash deposists take a day to clear if done near when the branch close.

So earlier the better, but should be fine :)

Oh crap I missed that little word "online". oops.

Anyway I used to work in a Clydesdale bank last summer and the funds are available for withdrawal immediately if you pay in cash to that account. :)
 
I've had some experiences of customers depositing money in the morning and it not acting as available funds until the close of business day, although it's not always the case. This is with Natwest and RBS. I would at least check your balance at an ATM before going to use the card :).

If they walked into the brach with cash and said put that into my debit account, its strange that its not available instantly (give it a minute or so). Poor bank tbh.
 
If the funds are deposited via atm then usually they need to be checked before they're made available on the account. Deposits via the counter are usually available immediately.

How do you deposit through an ATM?? There is a quick drop facility at most clydesdale branches for example but they only get processed twice a day iirc (lunchtime-ish and 4pm) if thats what you are thinking of? I'd like to see someone putting money back INTO an ATM, would be funny to watch! :D

Actually, the money won't clear until the end of the day...
