Just a quick question for those uin the know of banks.

My brother owes me a large sum of money, and is getting paid from his work in the form of a cheque, We were wondering, is it possible for both him and I to go into my bank, with his ID, bank card etc and put it straight into MY account?

probably a stupid question as I'm pretty sure it'll be a no, but worth asking :)

Im pretty sure it will have to go into the account of the Addressee first and then transfer over, sorry bro

Cheque will have "acc payee only" so no.

You used to be able to which was why you had to cross cheques to make sure that no one else couldn't cash your cheque - Cheques are crossed by default now. :)

Technically I think no, but try it. Go in and ask - if you get a friendly cashier and you both have all the proper ID, you may get lucky.

Alternatively, just pay it into his account, then immediately set up a payment from his account to yours, to take place in 3 days or so (time for the cheque to clear) - banks should be able to do this.

cool, thanks guy, hopefully I'll get it in time for next months rent payment to come out (this is money he owes me for last months rent :/)
