Apparently graffiti artist Banksy has been arrested In London and his identity has been revealed:

Banksy Arrested

One train of thought says another mindless individual creating acts of vandalism pursued by an overly elaborate police investigation has finally been apprehended. On the other side of the coin there's many who appreciate this as art and the political statements he has made stand firm with them. Considering the resources allocated to finding this individual could the funds have been better spent? My own opinion is with the latter - what's your thoughts OcUK?

Or - is this all just a hoax in order to recieve more media attention as some are claiming?

Thank god! Bansky is one of the most influential artists in modern times, it'll be a sad day when he really gets arrested. I really enjoy his art.

just because some pople like it does not change the fact that is vandalism and as such against the law

That website can't be real, I call BS especially as no other media outlets are reporting this. My money is on a hoax.

Vandalism: Action involving deliberate destruction of or damage to public or private property

Destruction: The action or process of causing so much damage to something that it no longer exists or cannot be repaired

Damage: Physical harm that impairs the value, usefulness, or normal function of something

Are you sure it's a fact?

If it wasn't Banksy I'd say the Damage part fits. If some yoof decided to spray up the side of your house it would more than likely bring the value down. However because it's Banksy, the price tends to go up so I suppose you could argue against this part too :p

Bingo. Most councils would give their annual canapé budget to get a Banksy on their patch. It's not vandalism if there's no impairment.

I find a lot of his work beautiful and thought provoking, and the fact that it's out on the street so that everyone can see and not in a stuffy gallery so it's accessible by all

It's still vandalism. If the owner didn't ask for it or want it, and it damages (or alters) the original structure either materially or, in this case, visually, it constitutes vandalism regardless of whether it is any good or not or is worth money or whether people think it enhances the structure or whatever.

It's a fact that it's subjective.
