Banksy

Im not convinced that is strictly true either? Not purposely disagreeing, but what is your source that the 'rat' was commissioned?!? I have been a big Banky fan for several years, have pretty much followed his work in Bristol and London, but was never aware that anything he has done was 'commissioned'? Are you basing this on it being stenciled in a prominant place? I am happy to be wrong, but curious too. There have been talks about stuff being commissioned, but nothing has been proven. Dont recall reading anything in his books?

A big fan of his work! :)

My mistake. He was 'invited' (and paid) to paint the mural during the 2004 Liverpool Biennial festival. I have no source linkage, but it's a fairly well known local fact. As for him never having been commissioned, lol!.

is it this you're on about?

I took it the one time I had to step foot in Liverpool

That's the one.

also there's no such word as richous.

Thanks ever so much for pointing that out. I really don't know how we would all get on in life without pedantic jobsworths combing our literary trails . Welcome to the internet, where people occasionally make mistakes.

i'm down with the kids and it's still babble.

He must be from Romford.

Also, Banksy was interesting until his first book came out and he started selling art "ironically" to celebrities.

My mate collects his artwork, started before he was popular

He has done VERY well out of it, sold one of his pieces to a gallery for 20k, bought it 2 years earlier for 70 quid

He's brilliant but apparently there's another artist out there like who's even better. I was talking to somebody* on Saturday night who used to be his manager.

*she was fiiiit...

LOL (and that's a genuine LOL), I see TOX0x all over the tube, everywhere. It does amaze me some of the places that tag is in.

Complete ****. Hypocritical, overrated corporate whore.

"Smash the system! Reclaim the streets! Dissolve the Rat Race!

...Twenty quid, mate.

Oh! The new book? Thirty five quid."

*n

You don't have to buy his books. The people who do are the ones who he's ripping off. Especially when most of his images are available online on flickr etc plus on his site his shop is free. A friend of a friend took a plank of wood with a banksy on it and sold it last year sometime for 8 grand!!!
