Banned Phrases by Councils

Which there would do something about my boss. His favourite two used almost every hour are:

"We need to get our ducks in a row"

and

"We need to get our bricks in a wall"

You honestly think they're going to ban people from using those words in a sensible context? :/
This, I'd imagine this "ban" will firsty refer to presentations and publications and secondly it is about the contextless and context inappropriate use of these words and phrases, obviously they're not going to stop valid use of words/phrases

I dont think it's anything to do with dumbing down, it's trying to prevent unnecessary use of these words, anyone who's worked with middle management will know the type of BS they can construct using them without actually saying anything of merit

No it isn't preventing unnecessary use - it's preventing use - very different.

There are lots of occasions when these words are perfectly acceptable.

Madness.

I think rather than banning them they should just give us free range to punch the person who uses them in the face, it's the same as those "management types" who can never answer a question and just reply with utter nonsense like these phrases.

It’s not just in their speech, the emails, documents and presentations. They must spend hours learning them. You should read some of the management books that are around, they could be written by someone from another planet.
