I've got an interview on Sunday for an interview at a big student night club down here in Bournemouth.

I've been told dress wear is smart/casual - trainers are ok.

Theres group sessions where you introduce yourself etc, and then say a bit about yourself infront of everyone.

(I'm planning on just keeping it short and sweet, name, where im from, course i'm studying, couple of hobbies, and a quick sentence on what I wanna do in the future)

Then you have a 1 to 1 interview. All in all, it lasts around 2 hours in total apparently.

Just wanted to get that off my chest, as I'm not a big fan of group interviews, however I've had one in the past and got the job.

I'm guessing they'll just be looking for the well spoken, friendly, confident types?

Any tips? (no pun intended)

Wow that sounds a lot for a bar job!

Sounds like you've got the right idea, they won't want to hear your life story so just be brief. Make sure to mix well with all the people there and keep the conversations flowing and you should be fine.

I don't have any tips, but I wish you the best of luck sir!

Thankyou.

I've saved enough money to keep me going for a month or two. So I'm hoping I get this job so my saved cash can be put to something intersting.

2 hour interview for a bar job?

Yeah I thought it seemed overkill tbh.

Yeah, I'll just make myself seem interested and involved. I think if you can pick out a 'friend' beforehand, or someone you think you'll get on alright with, you have a better chance. Someone to talk to and avoid looking like a loner.

I have an interview tomorrow and the Manager was EXTREMELY casual...told me to turn up in whatever i felt was comfortable and actually said not to worry about a suit and so on...this is for a competitor in the highstreet.

its mainly to see what your personality is like, it will be full of ice breaker type things and group activities.

just relax, be yourself and make sure you participate and contribute on the group stuff... you don't want to fade into the background.

i wouldnt worry about the dress, just wear what you normally do. it should be fine as long as you dont look like a tramp :p

edit- sp >.<

That reminds me, I've been wearing these boxers for the past 4 days.

Time to turn them inside out.

I needed a job desperately at 17 and applied at the bear factory :( one big group interview (20 people) all either girls or very gay men (apart from me) needles to say i walked out just before the "manager" tried to get us to dance :/

The bear factory creeps me out, it's like someone went on a teddy bear killing spree and left all the skins behind.

Which bar? I know people that work at Crank, Bar So, Klute & Bliss! I don't think it'll be too hard, they'll just want to see confidence I suppose!

Wooo. Living in Purbeck, so if you get this i'll see you Freshers! I'm moving down tuesday. It's the next road over from oxford road isn't it?

Yeah it is. :)

I'm picturing random people asking me if I'm from OcUK now.

There's a bar open next to the place on Sunday, think it would hurt to have a sneaky pint to relax myself?
