as the name suggests guys, which do you think is better? i've been looking at 1/2" gold plated barb fittings, or for that matter, what fitting is BEST?

Keep it in your current thread. You're on three or four now.

You're asking if you should use gold plated barbs. I'm going to have to deduce from this that you're a fool. Gold plated barbs are the same as any other barbs except for costing lots more and being a different colour, anyone should realise this without being told.

yea, i wouldnt bother with gold plated ones. I used compression fittings on my first loop then barbs on all the others. I go for 7/16 tubing and 1/2 barbs, best combo in my opinion :)

Easy there JJ! If the guy/gal wants gold plated barbs then what diference is there from liking black/silver/purple anodized brushed aluminium? There isn't. Beauty is in the (often tasteless) eye of the beholder and this guy/gal fancies a bit of gold.

@ the OP - barbs and compression fittings are effectively the same thing. Most people use barbs in the UK because that's the UK thing. In Germany everyone uses compression fittings or airline fittings because that's their thing. Connectors are very personal. Lots of people spend literally hundreds on Bitspower compression fittings because of the look primarily, but 1/2" ID barbs with 7/16" ID tubing without clips will be just as secure, easier to assemble and look tidier in my opinion.

If you like the look, do it, but don't expect a universally positive response if you post photographs...

And if you have made 3 or 4 threads about the same thing then it's against forums rules, contrary to forum etiquette generally and likely to get you a holiday.

You're right WJA, apologies to the OP.

If you want something a bit more special then bitspower do silver plated fittings. These can almost be justified in terms of silver being antimicrobial. It'll cost you though, and performance will be identical to cheaper ones.

In the spirit of preference, 11/8mm compression fittings with 11/8mm tygon is the best :)
