I went for 4 days with my girlfriend back in 2007 and it was great. As other people have said, get the bus pass, it was €23 for 2 days or €20 for 1 day when I was there. There are 3 circular routes which intersect at many places so it's easy to hop on and off to see whatever you want.

Dos Palillos, the best meal I've had in Barcelona if you like a modern twist on tapas though you definitely need to book (the full tasting menu is brilliant).

Nope I had no problems atall, though i did take a decoy wallet in my back pocket incase of a mugging and i even came home with that too

Sorry to hiijack, but Im off to Barca in Jan for the first time too! Can anyone recommend a hotel that is central and not too pricey to stay in?
Learning Spanish so hoping by then that I'll be okay with the lingo! Eek!!

Baja Beach is a cool club.

Oveja Negra was a fun bar until they barred me. Cheap beers and cool 'souvenir' glasses

Hey mate, hope you have a good time while you're out there.

Im not sure about prices because i did'nt book it but I don't think that it is essential to stay in a central hotel because the tour busses are so good. You can get from the hotel to the centre quite easy so I would'nt worry too much about it if you plan to take the tour bus.

Maybe just try and get as central a hotel as you can afford but if it gets too pricey then rely on the tour busses

Thanks for the advice! So stay around La Rambla is it? I'll have a look and see prices

La Rambla was great but it's very touristy. We found out by asking at the hotel there is a place called Barnes (i think) which is where the locals go and its really nice in that area we got the best tapas at good prices there and theres some nice bars so i would recomend getting a taxi there at night was only 15 euros or so one way and our hotel was quite a way away from there.
