What you guys think?

could do with a case.
also, any reason you've got with this low a spec? it seems that you could go quite a bit better with very little extra outlay.
I understand if thats the max you can spend but I think they next step up isn't that far away.

If your Ram is not DDR2(and I'm not sure if PC4200 is offhand but I suspect not) then it won't work but otherwise it looks basically fine. I'd change the hard drive to a SATA drive and maybe change the DVDRW for an NEC or Pioneer.

By the way VeNT there is a case there, the Antec 1300 :)

how about spending a few more bucks, and getting a better CPU?

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2GHz (Socket AM2) - Retail (CP-164-AM)
Price: £54.95 (£64.57 Including VAT at 17.5%)

It'll cost you an extra 13quid, but I think it's worth it.

Basically my girlfriend wants a cheap as computer for under £400 (including monitor mouse and keyboard) which i am getting else where.

The ram is ddr2.

And she is taking it to uni and only needs it for word and a bit of minesweeper every now and again it dont need a monstrous hardware configuration.

but what about the TEAM?
rule 1
When buying a PC get the fastest CPU you can and OVERCLOCK IT SO ITS GOT UBER OUTPUT!
Rule 2
NEVER ASK WHY
Rule 3
DO NOT TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB!

It's perfect, dont spend another penny on it. I only reckoned putting a 3500+ in it, if it was for you. But since its for a girl, you dont need to change it.

Let me know how you get along with that M2NPV-VM, I was thinking of building a MediaCentre PC around that board.
