Hi there,

I'm thinking about getting a little barebone system, i've never had one before...

I'd be using it as storage, also maybe have a few downloads going on it overnight.

What do you think of them? are they worth it?

Would I be able to make / buy a silent one, that could run over night. A certain someone sleeps very lightly and can't get to sleep with my main comp left on

Also, how cheap could I build one for, roughly? It wouldn't need to be anything amazing, but it would need to run World of Warcraft

Thanks mates.

Well OcUK only sell Shuttle systems in terms of barebones brand new now so that is the better part of £300 gone probably for something that may be even vaguely upgradable(i.e. AM2 or socket 775).

I'd probably recommend getting a system based on microATX(mATX) as it will offer more options for upgrading in the future, be cheaper and may well also overclock better.

How cheap is up to you but I'd try for something like a Conroe 6300 or similar, 1gb or 2gb Ram(depending on budget), mATX motherboard, Samsung hard drive for the quietness and either use the onboard graphics or maybe get a passively cooled graphics card(I have no idea how demanding WoW is graphically I'm afraid).
