Hi,

My little nephew bought a Radeon 4890 but when I came to install it for him, I found it wouldn't fit in his PC (and also that his PC power supply is under 300W!). So I'm looking for a decent system with case, power supply, etc. that I can throw the card and maybe some memory into to get him up and running again.

Can anyone recommend some components for me? I suppose I need a case, motherboard and CPU (preferably core 2 duo), relatively cheap. I can mix and match other components as necessary.

Thanks.

went for the following just to give you a starting point, psu has 2 pci-e power connectors so will be fine for the 4890:

Coolermaster Real Power 520w Modular Power Supply £67.99 (£59.12)

Asus P5QL Pro Intel P43 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £64.98 (£56.50)

Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5300 "LGA775 Core 2" 2.60GHz (800FSB) - Retail £52.99 (£46.08)

Corsair XMS2 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C5 TwinX Dual Channel (TWIN2X4096-6400C5C) £33.99 (£29.56)

Asus TA-D31 Midi-ATX Case - Black (No PSU) £26.99 (£23.47)

Sub Total : £214.73
Shipping : £11.75
VAT : £33.97
Total : £260.45

That looks pretty good mp. Actually my budget would be around £300. But he will need a case as well because his current system is a dell, where everything is design to perfectly fit!

that does include a case for £260.

for "around" £300 i'd change the case to the antec 300 and get an aftermarket cooler, Akasa AK-967 Nero should do the job, takes the total to £307 ish.

But it may not obviously be a SATA hd in dell. Which i recommend getting if not, with the extra.
