Barebones system not working

I will go through everything I have done to see if it helps diagnose the issue.

I was using my PC and spilt a drink on it. It turned itself off. I disconnected the power immediately but it was too late.

After leaving it to dry for quite a while in a warm place, disconnecting everything etc I tried to get it to work.

It would turn on for half a second. At this point in time I had an XFX 1250W PSU, a P8Z68 mobo and i5 3570K CPU with some Corsair Vengeance 1866 Ram.

I thought the mobo had died since that was where visible liquid was after the incident.

Bought a brand new P8Z77
Still didn't work.
Tried hot wiring the PSU to check if that worked. (green wire to a black one) no joy.
Bought a new Corsair PSU
Still doesn't work.

Now I have it all out the case. I have the PSU with both the 24 and 8 pin connectors connected to the mobo on my table. With just the CPU in as well. I get the same thing. Split second starting but no further.

Help please! Has the liquid really shorted out the CPU? What other tests can I do?

Anyone in Milton Keynes with a spare 1155 socket CPU to test in my rig? ;)

Thanks

I tested the new PSU as well. If I connect green wire to a black one and hold them together, the PSU continues to run but not if I let go. I take it this is normal.
