Just picked this up today for £32. 3/8" drive and 1/4"- think it was the best part of £80 before (take the item code with you to the store if you want one though as they were a little dodgy selling it to me). Lifetime warranty etc too- and the extensions in the set are wobble drive :)

Also picked up a half decent tool chest for £50. All in all a good shopping trip :)

edit- the set also comes with 8 ratchet spanners.

I don't even need the sockets but I'd be tempted to buy that just for the ratchet spanners.
And a 7 piece ratchet spanner set is £50... so the OP set is definately worth buying.

Great deal on good kit! I cannot see from that picture but my Halfords ratchet spanners, which were bought seperately, have a swivel head. This is mucho handy, flat spanners are not that useful and the ones in the kit look flat? That said my spanners cost as much as that whole kit :|

yeah, the spanners are flat. The swivel ones are a few quid more. Been arsing about with the kit tonight and i'm fairly impressed so far- need to add a small breaker bar/torque wrench/deep metric/torx/allen sockets to it though. Will either get them from machinemart or halfords tbh.

I have one 10mm Halfords ratchet spanner and it's brilliant.

I use it when I have to install a Sky dish for customers as all of the dish bolts are 10mm and it makes tightening up a doddle.

I looked into buying a set of their Ratchet spanners and I swear it was more than the cost of this kit!

The thing I need is a torque wrench though, any bargains on those?

Halfords torque wrenches used to be pretty rubbish, not sure if thats changed now though. You can get decent Draper ones fairly cheap though.

Don't buy a cheap torque wrench.
Buy a good one - I'd go with Snap-on tbh - also get it calibrated reasonably frequently.

But you are looking at easily well over £200 for the torque wrench alone.

Or have a mate with one

Unfortunately i'm the mate who has the tools and the garage so not able to blag kit :(

Hmm, are the snap on ones warrantied for life with no real exclusions? if so (i'm planning on getting a couple of resto projects going) it might be worth getting as it'll last (until it gets nicked). Know what you mean with snap on kit though, its pretty pricey :(

What are teng/britool ones like in comparison?

Went to local Halfords to try and get one of these last night. Couldn't see anything like it out on the shelves at any price and the staff didn't seem very interested in serving people so I couldn't enquire further :(

Good price, spent £49 on the halfords pro rachet spanner set about a year ago, best tools i've ever got, great quality as well, i would buy it at that price except i've already got everything i need.

I had to ask about 4 people until they found me one- even then they were reluctant. Still, used it yesterday to service the lawnmower and its pretty handy (also bought some draper expert deep sockets and a breaker bar now).

Tried 3 local ones to me, they all typed it into their computer and then told me they had none in stock. Even tho one store actually had one on display (had bits missing so i left it).
