Why not just get the cat cut out and a decat section welded in and the car is good to go again? cars pre 2001 dont need a cat for mot.

the punto is a 51plate, infact the catalyser is still under warranty and could be replaced if i could manage to get it off the car and send it back to the seller, as i bought it from the bay and got a garage to fit it for me, but the problem with the punto is its eating oil, so i think the engine is on its way out, although saying that she has had it for 2 years now and its been the same since she bought it, she paid £1000 for it, and has spent another £1k on full discs, pads, tires, full exhaust, catalyser, new battery, new windcreen, wiper motor linkage, and probably a few other things, as it is she is just wanting shut of it, but it does run fine, and will run fine with the cat fixed.

But me being me knowing the engine is not great, i would feel bad for selling it on to someone else knowing it has issues for £500 or whatever it would fetch.

Thought it was pre 93 if the car didn't have one fitted from the factory.

Pre 2001 definitely need a cat!

My day to dayer is a 2001 wrx quite heavily modded from standard and has all 3 cats removed, mot centre was aware of this (last few mots since I did the work) and confirmed that as long as it passed the basic emissions test , it is fine.

Yep car is still running sweet, still undecided on whether or not to have the cambelt changed on it or not, cant find any record of it being done!

as for the pictures i didnt think anyone cared, but i did take some when i washed it last week so will try and get them uploaded!

As requested here are two pictures i have of the car, dont have any of the inside mind, but theirs not a mark in side, and engine bay is really clean.

Let me know what ya think :p
