Barton Socket A Cooler

Get yourself a Thermalright SLK-900-U - about the best cooling available which means you can run the fans nice and slow:

For Socket A it is compatible with 92mm fans so you could go for a:

Akasa AK-184-L2B Ultra Quiet 92mm Fan - 3 pin (FG-028-AK) (OcUK sell 'em)

If you want the best performance with lowest noise I'd be a little more adventurous and get the 120mm Akasa with an adapter like the:

Akasa AK-M1812-4 80mm - 120mm Fan Adapter - UV Blue (FG-022-BK)

If you can find one - get a 120 to 92mm adapter as you'll get better airflow out of it, but if not the Akasa one above should give you more than enough - then you can either 7v mod the fan or pick up one of their fanmates to control it (but I have to say the 120mm is very quiet!)
 
that cooler is useless compared to newer tech coolers. if you have mounting holes like me on my nf7-s board then get a thermaltake big typhoon. if no mounting holes then get a gigabyte g-power cooler.

Fanless, 1dB! Though you can attatch a 120mm fan if necessary. Fanless sounds almost too good to be true, though the ability to fit a 120mm fan sounds like it would be worth it anyway.

The Antec P180 has 3 120mm fans anyway (2 by the CPU as outake, one by the PSU), so it might not be necessary.

I run a SonicTower on an NF7, and it's second only to a Big Typhoon.

Put a nice slow fan in it if you like Near-Silence (I slap a 172x151mm Papst over it).

Highly reccomended (Never though I'd say that about Thermaltake Products!!!)

Yep its good all round, silent or you can overclock with it too. I had my barton upto 2.6ghz on that, you may need additional case fans for high volts but thats true of any HSF.
 
Sorry to bump this old topic up, but I'm finally going to go through with this.

Was going to get a Sonic Tower and stick a 120mm on there, but seeing as the Zalman CNPS7000B uses a 120mm too, I might as well get that, right?
 
Ta, was swaying towards the Big Typhoon anyway.

I'm basically going be running my Barton machine alongside my new machine I'm building, not gonna overclock this, just want it to be cool and quiet. At £25 quid, there's no excuse not to,
 
the big copper thing up there used to weight a ton (about 800g iirc)

get an aerocool hightower. 450g. ive got it and it rules
 
The G-Power Pro is only 430g and comes with a fan controller so can be run quiet and still offer excellent cooling. Another thing with the G-power is that it is universal so will fit all mainstream socket types so when upgrade time comes you don't need a new cooler :)
 
for socket A there are really only 2 logical choises, the big typhoon if you have the space and mounting holes. or the Gpower if you don;t have mounting holes.

i have a msi nforce2 board, barton system that uses the g-power since there are no mounting holes on that board. and i have a big typhoon on my nf7-s system and also a big typhoon on my opteron system in current sig.
