I want to speed up my computer while it boots. I know that my external hard drive adds approximatley 20 seconds to the boot when it is plugged in. ( I don't wan't the hassle of plugging and unplugging it everytime i tur it on and off though.

So how can i disable it in the bios so it does not load when booting, but does not disbale it from the whole system entirely.

Thanks

Cai

Hey there,
I use an Asus board as well, so the BIOS may be similar to yours. Just go into it, go to the boot tab, and go into hard drives. Make sure your external hard drive is turned on before you turn your computer on. You should see it in the hard drive tab, press enter and disable it. This will disable it in the BIOS, but not on the operating system. Cheers, Chris.
