Does anyone know of any noob-friendly sites where I can get my head around the basics of laptops -or can anyone here offer some advice?
The missus is looking to get a cheapo laptop to use with SAGE accounting stuff -fancy graphics not needed in the slightest. Probably looking for something around the £250 mark so I expect she will be looking to purchase 2nd hand from fleabay etc.
Basically we need to know what models/manufacturers are good, which ones to avoid, which manufacurers cater for the cheap end of the market. That sort of thing.
Any help much appreciated :)

The Members Market on here can be pretty good for that sort of thing although you need 250 posts to get access now, you might be able to ask a don if they can waive that requirement as you joined quite a while ago but I don't know how strict the limit is.

Other than that I'd be looking secondhand, maybe local listings or something like that. I recently picked up a Compaq Presario 2100 from Craigslist(no idea if they have a local section near you) which is an XP-M 2400, 768mb Ram, 60gb hard drive with onboard graphics for almost exactly £250 and it would cope with SAGE fine.

Id def recommend Dell, ive never had any problems with them. You should check out the Dell outlet, you can often get yourself a bargain on there :)
