OK could anyone please spec me a basic pc for internet surfing and maybe a game or two please ...but its mainly for just internet stuff...ie Facebook , skype n so on :)


I do however prefer either XFX or Seasonic PSUs :).....I have a M5A78L-M Motherboard AM3+

As little as possible really to be honest ,,,,i was gonna use that mobo meaning i wouldnt have to fork out for a new one lol

its just a basic system im after...for the brother in law
 
 
Why would you get a new board? You'd just throw an FX chip in it, it's pointless to get a trinity when he has the foundation for an FX.

EDIT : Well, you could if the OP could tell the difference between 4 and 5 :p

That board is rather old as teppic quite rightly said. No AM3+ support either, so no support for FX. The board is older than you think Martini. :)

It also takes DDR2 RAM rather than DDR3. I would ditch it unless you have some DDR2 to shove in it, in which case buy a used Phenom II for it I suppose.

I'd either get a Phenom II X4 for it (Probably pick up a second hand one for like 40 quid)
Or go for Snips's FX6100 on the MM.

Indeed, for £300 I bought these parts used and slung a system together:

- i7 930 @ stock w' Kuhler 620
- Asus ROG Rampage II Extreme - (£120 for those three bits)
- 8GB Corsair Vengeance Blue 1600MHz - (£30 on MM)
- Asus GTX570 DirectCU II - (£75 on MM)
- Soundblaster Audigy 5.1 - (£FREE on MM)
- OCZ ZS550 - (£27.50 brand new on MM)
- 500GB Barracuda 7200.9 - (£13 on MM)
- Lancool PC-K62 - (had the case already, but I added £40 for that as thats what it is worth.)

Get your bum in the Members Market! ;)
