Basic, stupid, iTunes question!

I'm about to copy my mp3 collection over to a new media PC i've just built and I want to ensure that iTunes is setup so that it automatically picks up any new albums i copy into the folder further down the line (without me having to manually add it to the library).

Could someone confirm the options I need to enable in iTunes to do this? (Do I have to tick the option to let iTunes manage my library.. so that it renames and reorganises the files as well?!)

I was trying earlier and I somehow managed to end up duplicating everything.

As a side note, i've got a 64GB SSD system drive that I don't want iTunes to rape/use (not sure if it defaults to using the C:\Users\<username>\Music\iTunes folder to store.... "stuff"?

Any advice appreciated

Thanks!

iTunes on a pc is a nightmare , but just copy the iTunes folder off your old pc. Then on your new one set default folder for iTunes on on your storage HD then place the iTunes folder in there and point iTunes to it should be OK.......

Ah okay thanks, think i've sorted it now.

Last time I think i'd already manually added my Music folder to my library, then when I set the "Media folder location" to that same folder, which caused the duplicates.

Kinda annoying that you have to then put everything in another "Automatically Add to iTunes" subdirectory, but meh, at least it's working now.

Thanks!
